A historic Savannah row house, tile and copper restored

Downtown Savannah doesn't let you improvise. This row house needed its terracotta tile and copper flashing restored in keeping with the historic district, which meant matching tile that hasn't been manufactured in generations and soldering copper the old way.

We salvaged every sound tile, sourced matches for the failed ones, and rebuilt the copper valleys and flashing on the bench before carrying them up. The crew worked the parapet by hand, course by course, with the block looking on.

The bright copper will brown within a year and reach verdigris in a decade or so, exactly the patina the district expects. The roof looks like it never left.
